B-ROLL FOOTAGE ADDS DEPTH TO YOUR VIDEO STORY

An essential component to any successful film, television production, video, or commercial is the B-roll. A term coined in the early days of shooting, B-roll refers to the supplemental footage used to support and elaborate the principal photography (I.e. a clip of coffee being made played over a narration of a coffee brand, puppies running around as the information for an adoption center is being described to the audience, etc).  B-roll helps give a visual of what the subject or primary story is focusing on, which helps grasp and maintain the attention of the audience by using relevant cutaways and transitional shots. These shots are not usually able to stand on their own, but when used as a way to illustrate the narration, can be incredibly useful and give a final product the extra kick it needs to keep a viewer fully engaged and visually informed on the subject matter. B-roll can originate from [...]

Fresh off our edit bay: Glass Eye Productions produced, shot, and edited a multi-region commercial TV spot for John Deere, the largest agricultural machinery company in the world. The spot was shot on an organic farm location in Moorpark, CA. Glass Eye Productions handled the entire production process including location scouting and casting. The in-house advertising team in Olathe, Kansas, created the script. We really liked the concept and story and felt it connected with a segment of their consumer base that often gets overlooked. The campaign has been very successful for John Deere, and our Glass Eye crew feels fortunate to have been a part of it. Lucy’s Dream Storyline Lucy has always dreamed of owning her own business. She knows about produce, but not about horsepower. The John Deere 3E tractor is easy to work with and provides the support Lucy needs to fulfill her dreams. Click for an exclusive look – [...]

A LOOK INTO WORKING WITH ANIMALS: PUPPIES

By |2017-03-13T21:26:23+00:00April 22nd, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A LOOK INTO WORKING WITH ANIMALS: PUPPIES

This week, Glass Eye Productions had the opportunity to work with adorable dogs and puppies for a TV spot for a top North Orange County real estate agency, Darryl & JJ Jones. Working with the animals was a challenge and required patience. Animals are difficult to control, and don’t take direction quite like humans. It’s also difficult to get frustrated with them because they are cute beyond belief, especially the Labrador Retrievers that we were able to feature in our project. In the end, our hard work and patience paid off, and no animals were bothered in the making of the TV spot. Photos from the shoot:

A LOOK INTO A COMMUNITY DOCUMENTARY: EVERY 15 MINUTES

By |2017-03-13T21:50:39+00:00April 22nd, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A LOOK INTO A COMMUNITY DOCUMENTARY: EVERY 15 MINUTES

Glass Eye Productions performed a bit of community service this week. We brought our crew up to Brea Olinda High School to shoot and edit a documentary story for the Every 15 Minutes Program. Description of the program on the Every 15 Minutes website: “The Every 15 Minutes Program offers real-life experience without the real-life risks. This emotionally charged program, entitled Every 15 Minutes, is an event designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and texting while driving.” The program encourages students to take responsibility for personal actions and the lives of their friends. Every 15 Minutes provides a real-life, visual representation of the consequences associated with poor decisions. Glass Eye Productions enjoyed working with the high school students and hopes that the documentary will raise awareness for this important cause. A LOOK INTO AERIAL FILMING

By |2017-05-02T23:55:22+00:00April 19th, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A LOOK INTO AERIAL FILMING

We’ve experienced some turbulence learning the art of aerial filming (four drones later), but the hard lessons have really started to pay off. Our latest flying machine is an Inspire 2 Pro outfitted with a Zenmuse X5S camera with CinemaDNG and ProRes capabilities, which allows for some stunning visuals. We now have the ability to capture 4K cinematic footage that just a couple of years ago would have been out of the question for most project budgets. Today we use our aerial capabilities on a large variety of projects. The footage is amazing and it’s a blast to shoot! Take a look at some of the footage from a recent shoot in central California for John Deere. A LOOK INTO PRODUCING: POST-PRODUCTION

By |2017-03-13T22:08:12+00:00April 19th, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A LOOK INTO PRODUCING: POST-PRODUCTION

Every project requires multiple steps to reach the final cut. Post-production is a phase of the video production process that requires focus, careful management, and organization. Below is an outline of the post-production process at Glass Eye Productions, Inc. Step 1: Organizing Media The first step of post-production at Glass Eye is organizing the footage. This includes ingesting the footage, adding logging information, storing and sorting clips, and creating back up files on a separate drive. Ingesting the media at the proper specs and organizing the media is essential to a well-run post-production experience. Depending on the client’s level of involvement, we may share “selects” of the footage at this stage. Step 2: Story Edit Utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro software, our team puts together a rough cut to build the story. This is a key period in the post-production timeline and in addition to considering the messaging, we will also begin to conceptualize motion-graphics [...]

A LOOK INTO PRODUCT RELEASE VIDEOS: JOHN DEERE 9RX

By |2017-03-13T22:33:10+00:00February 26th, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A LOOK INTO PRODUCT RELEASE VIDEOS: JOHN DEERE 9RX

Glass Eye Productions was hired to produce two videos to introduce the 9RX tractor. These videos are utilized in the new website called the 9RX Experience. This is truly an amazing, game changing product, and we felt very fortunate to be involved. Over the course of the project we shot footage in Paso Robles, CA; Waterloo, IA; and Saskatoon, SK. The first video was titled “The Making of 9RX” and told the story of how the tractor was designed and the importance of integrating customer feedback to improve the product. Part of the challenge in this video was that we could only show quick glimpses of the tractor, as the video was released before the actual tractor. During the editing process, we utilized tighter shots and a heavy color treatment to hide the details of the tractors exterior. We chose to use a more documentary approach, letting interviews from customers and John Deere employees [...]
